Barbuda - Bud's Big Blue

Barbuda in Bud's Big Blue
Bud's Big Blue
Bud's Observations
There’s not much to say about Barbuda stamps. Early cancels, if you have any, are generic, probably from the village of Codrington, but marked only “Barbuda”. If there were any Codrington cancels in the classical era, I’d like to find one. I have seen Codrington postmarks dated after Antigua/Barbuda discovered wallpaper stamps could be a major export.

Census: 5 in BB spaces.

Jim's Observations
Short and sweet.
Actually, finding Barbuda stamps in a general collection is fairly rare.

  1. No changes since the scans were made.

  2. Are those really the only stamps on the page, or were other countries fuzzed out for future posts?

It sure looks odd to have a single line on an entire page. I had to zoom in to make sure it wasn't a supplement page! :)

    1. Those are indeed the only stamps on the page.

The Scott editors did some rearrangements of countries with the 1967 edition (which Bud's is). Prior, Barbuda was tucked in with Basutoland.

Then in the 1990s and 2000s, further separation was done on the pages, with each category of country (example: air post) starting on their own page. This allowed easy integration with the other parts (volumes), if one wished to put all of the pages of a country together across the parts.

But Scott (after 1967) never changed or increased the coverage, that is, increase the number of spaces for stamps, even though they were creating lots of pages that have the look of Barbuda here.

    2. Jim's right, BB's Barbuda constitutes a whole a whole, mostly blank page. Lots of space to tip-in other Barbudans, except there aren't many. BTW, my album has a 1969 copyright.
