How to fill those pesky million dollar spaces in Deep Blue

Deep Blue: Strategy for those hard to fill spaces
Deep Blue, my William Steiner PDF album, has all the spaces for stamps that are listed in the Scott catalogue.

Now that sounds good on superficial review.  But frankly some spaces that Steiner provides are hard to fill.

Staring at a stamp space in Deep Blue, eyes drawn to it repeatedly, and KNOWING it will forever remain empty:  fulsome greed and despair.

Habsuchtverzweiflung as the Germans call it.

Then should we give up?.....

"Never give in, never give in, never; never; never;-in nothing great or small, large or petty"
Winston Churchill

So I offer you only this day an eloquent technique, that should efficiently fill those lonely spaces

First, find an annoying empty space candidate.....

USA's Scott 85A space in Deep Blue: $ 3,000,000
Perusing the first several pages of the USA spaces....Haha!, a 3 million dollar space for the 1c Franklin Z grill: 85A.

What to do?

Find a suitable replacement in one's collection.....

1868 Scott 86 1c blue "Franklin" E grill
Here is an E grill. Let's look at the back....

Reverse of Scott 86 with E grill: 11 X 13 mm
Who really cares about grills anyway? And really, how much does a silly millimeter mean? And who can accurately measure them?

Now I won't kid you... this technique does require a little fudging.

But the question is, are you going to let the empty spaces rule you?

Or let a few scruples get in the way?

The solution.....

The Scott 86 happily ensconced in the 85A space
PUT the Scott 86 in the 85A space. Offer to measure the grill for any sceptic. Happily point out your filled space to all concerned.

This technique can be used and cloned for most all those pesky million dollar spaces.

There, isn't that better?.......

And just one more thing......

A Happy April Fool's Day to You too!
